Airport Procedure for First Timers! Travel to Dubai from Philippines

Hello first timers!

It's time for you to NOT to think too much because I will be putting in details my travel experience and might answer most of your questions and doubts.

With the help of my brother and sister in Dubai,I secured a Visit Visa effective for 3 months, air-ticket and return ticket and affidavit of support.

Accompanied by my family, got in the Clark International Airport, Pampanga at 8:00am. That's 2 hours and 40 minutes before my departure time. I had connecting flights, first from Philippines to Doha, Qatar and then from Qatar to Dubai thru Qatar Airways.

So from there, I said my goodbyes to my family and went straight to the airport and did the following.

|PROCEDURE:

STEP 1: LUGGAGE X-RAY SCAN (left side upon entry)

  • Show passport, ticket & visa to the guard at the airport entrance.
  • Put luggage and hand carry on the conveyor.
  • Remove belt, watch and all items from pocket, place them in the tray provided and put them on the conveyor as well.

STEP 2: TRAVEL TAX PAYMENT (right side of airport entrance)

  • Pay travel tax at the amount of Php1620.00 and get the receipt.

STEP 2A: LUGGAGE WRAPPING (Optional)
  • If you want extra protection of your luggage you can have it at the amount of Php250.00.
  • I had all the zippers padlocked and also availed this wrap and they all turned out well for me.

STEP 3: CHECK-IN

  • Ask for assistance from the airport staff where to fall in line.
  • Before the queue, show all the documents  to the checker; passport, ticket, visa, affidavit of support, birth certificate and travel tax receipt.
  • The checker will will give you stub after asking you few things about your flight details.
  • At the Check-in counter; show passport, ticket, receipt and stub.
  • Put luggage in Weight counter  next to Check-in counter. My maximum luggage was 30kg but I only had 29.10kg. Here, the luggage will be taken to the airline luggage compartment thru the conveyor and airline will be responsible for it's handling.
  • Listen carefully for what the check-in staff will have to say.
  • Get your boarding pass which entails the assigned zone no., gate no., seat no. and time of boarding.
STEP 4: TERMINAL FEE (left side of airport entrance)
  • Pay terminal fee at the amount of Php600.00 for non-OFW.

STEP 5: IMMIGRATION
  • Before lining up for the immigration, fill-up first a small form found in the counter at left-side upon entry of the immigration area. This is all about your personal and travel details.
  • Show all documents to the immigration officer;
  1. Passport
  2. Ticket
  3. Visa
  4. Affidavit of support (for visit visa)
  5. Birth certificate
  6. Travel tax receipt
  7. Boarding pass
  8. Accomplished Form
  • Answer questions confidently and naturally with good manners.
  • Actual questions the immigration officer asked from me;
  1. Who is your sponsor?
  2. How long is he been in Dubai?
  3. When was the last time he got home here in the Philippines?
  4. What is your work here in the Philippines?
  5. Are you employed or have your own office?
  6. Where is your office located?
  7. When will you come back?
  8. The officer asked for the OEC(Overseas Employment Certificate) of my sponsor which happened to be not included in my documents. I just told the officer that all the documents I gave her were the one's sent to me by my sponsor.
STEP 6: BOARDING
  • Put hand carry on the conveyor.
  • Remove belt, watch and all items from pocket, place them in the tray provided and put them on the conveyor as well.
  • Show passport and boarding pass at departure counter...go up thru the escalator.
  • Upon reaching the second floor, there is a Manual Security check for hand carry for liquid items.
  • Wait and sit near the designated gate (mine was gate 5)
  • Wait for further instructions. Be aware of your Flight no., Zone no., & Seat no. which are all indicated in the boarding pass.
  • Upon prompt to enter the gate, show your passport and boarding pass to the gate staff.
  • Proceed to the aero-bridge that will lead to the flight.
  • Upon entry to the airline, show boarding pass to cabin crew which will lead to assigned seat.
  • Keep hand carry luggage into the overhead compartment or under the seat in front.

Unfortunately, my flight was delayed for almost 1 hour. We started boarding at 10:02am which supposedly at 9:40am. But I enjoyed the flight with the good food, personal screen audio-video service which has a lot of good movies, good meals, and of course, the beautiful cabin crew.

And that's it!
Best regards to all!
